Countrywide Motorhomes of Wimborne, and Three Counties Motorhomes of Poole, have joined forces. This partnership will operate as ‘Motorhome Dealer Group’ or ‘MDG’

This joining of two prominent, leading retailers within the Motorhome industry is a significant one as it brings together three highly regarded individuals that have unique backgrounds, having worked in all sectors of our industry

David Carpenter was Sales Manager for the largest UK Motorcaravan manufacturer, Autohomes UK Ltd in the 80’s. David moved into the area of retailing, forming a partnership known to many as Plymouth Motorcaravans in Devon. In 1997, David formed his own business, Countrywide Motorhomes, based in Wimborne Dorset, which become well known for its personal viewing by appointment facility.

Rob Kirk was part of the ‘original’ Marquis team that saw Marquis expand throughout the 90’s. Rob’s skills and dedication were rewarded with a directorship of the Marquis group. Rob left Marquis to start his own business Three Counties Motorhomes in Poole, Dorset and quickly become established as a leading national dealer.

Chris Cash has an impressive engineering background and trained as a Volkswagen trained mechanic. Chris worked for 9 years at the VW factory in Wolfsburg Germany. Chris has for major names in the Motor Industry such as Mann Egerton the VW group, Westover Group and Bridgestone tyres. Since early in 2000 Chris worked as Service Manager for The Marquis Motorhome Group.

The two will continue to market their own individual brands, vehicles & services as before, whilst the forming of MDG will allow the two companies two operate in harmony together and share resources. Commenting on the decision to continue the individual brands rather than a complete new one, David Carpenter stated, “for twelve years Countrywide customers have enjoyed making a specific appointment to view Motorhomes with the knowledge that on such an important decision a specialist would be on hand for that appointment. We felt it most important to retain that established facility, something we have become famous for.” David went on to say “Three Counties Motorhomes are a more traditional dealer, in the sense that customers can simply turn up and view 7 days a week. We recognized that customers would like that option and the joining of forces allows customers the flexibility of choice.” Both dealerships’ staff have received special training to ensure continuity. A visitor to the new joint premises can deal with whoever they wish and buy whichever vehicle they choose from the joint stock, it will make no difference under this merger. The overall benefit to customers will be, probably one of the most extensive displays of Motorhomes in the south, a 7 day a week business, and a larger more experienced team on hand. David was keen to point out “despite the changes that took place on Jan 1st 2009, there is a welcoming family feel about the business and I know that all visitors will feel very at home here”.
